The Power of Self Confidence

Believing in myself changed everything. It gave me the power to take action. However, I wasn’t always someone who acted on what I wanted. I used to be very insecure about myself. I can still recall on the times where I would pull my shirt in the pool or when I would put a hoodie on because I didn’t like how my body looked. The worst it ever got was in my Junior year of High School. It was when I was in a toxic relationship, and I didn’t know how to get out.

Glass hit the floor. It broke in different pieces as popcorn went flying in the air. My ex girlfriend was a character to say the least. I had told her that I didn’t like how she had been treating me. She had physically attacked me and told her my prior ex treated me better. That was what snapped her, she lashed out at me cursing me out, throwing items in my home, and degrading me as a person. Although I shouldn’t have been thinking of my ex prior to her, I couldn’t take it. I needed to get it off my chest. I needed to tell her how I felt. She needed to hear the real me. But it didn’t work. Or so I thought, although in that moment I thought I was experiencing another abusive event it actually benefited my life. It was the turning point to where I finally had confidence.

After this night I broke up with her. I stopped going after girls and I started chasing my higher self. This moment in time was what changed everything. Before the night of this abusive event I never talked about my feelings, wore oversized clothes, and didn’t like showing my face. But that one small step; standing up to her and telling her how I felt gave me confidence. I was able to believe in myself. I proved that I could do something hard. I found that what proved to be hard turned out to be beneficial. Once I stopped running from what was hard, I changed. Everyday after that breakup I became better.

It wasn’t an overnight change that took me from toxic relationship with no confidence to online fitness coach who serves others for a living. In fact, it was a hard and long process after that night. But everyday it got a little easier. Everyday I got stronger. And through consistent effort I was able to lose weight, build a business, and become confident. I believe that you can do the same.

No matter where you are in your life, you can change. It all can happen when you stand up for yourself. Don’t wait to start being better. Don’t wait to start standing up for who you are. Every time you let your inner voice stay inside of you, you lose the opportunity to grow. Stop waiting and start acting. It changed my life, why not yours?
